L. Ebony Boulware
Director
Professor and Chief, Division of General Internal Medicine in the Department of Medicine, Vice Dean for Translational Science, Associate Vice Chancellor for Translational Research

Ebony Boulware, MD MPH is a Professor of Medicine, Vice Dean for Translational Science in the School of Medicine and Chief of the Division of General Internal Medicine in the Department of Medicine at Duke University. She received an A.B. degree in English from Vassar College, an M.D. from Duke University, and a M.P.H. from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She has spent the majority of her scholarly career investigating mechanisms to improve the care and health outcomes of patients with chronic diseases such as chronic kidney disease and hypertension. She is particularly interested in identifying ways to eliminate ethnic and racial disparities in these diseases and in improving health equity for all people. Dr. Boulware’s research has been funded by numerous organizations, including the National Institutes for Health, The Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute, the Health Resources and Services Administration, the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality, and foundations. Dr. Boulware frequently engages community members, patients, and their family members to enhance the relevance and sustainability of her research.
